WHO THIS IS FOR

You keep work and family moving. But where is the space for you?

An Retreat is for busy professionals, business owners and people others depend on. Your days are full of decisions, messages and responsibility. You want to protect your health and age well, but you also need enough distance to ask whether the life you are sustaining still reflects what matters to you.

  • You carry responsibility for a business, a team or a family and rarely switch off completely.
  • You have tried diets, spa breaks or short holidays, but the effect disappears when work resumes.
  • You want to act before exhaustion, poor habits or preventable health problems become your normal.
  • You want a structured physical reset and the clarity to decide what comes next.

Five protected days to hear what your normal life has made difficult to hear.

You return with more than physical lightness: a quieter mind, clearer priorities and a practical intention for how you want to use your time and energy after the mountain.

Start your journey

An
THE WORD

You already know the feeling. You may simply have forgotten how to reach An.

An (安) is the Vietnamese word for peace, safety, a settled inner state. The character is a picture: a roof over a person, shelter not as comfort but as structure. It is the peace that comes when the conditions of your life finally allow you to stop bracing.

Most of us look for an escape. We take a break, unplug for a while, then return to the same demands. But An is not escape. It is the mind and body standing firmly inside your own life again.

Five days here create the conditions for An to return. Not through force or discipline, but through fasting, meditation, the stillness of a centuries-old mountain, and the space to reconnect with what matters most.

SOMETHING HAS SHIFTED

From the outside, everything still works.Inside, the direction feels less clear.

You are still functioning.

You answer messages, solve problems and remain dependable for staff, clients and family.

Because you are still performing, there never seems to be a legitimate moment to stop.

Rest has become distraction.

A weekend away helps briefly, but your mind stays occupied with staff, family, plans and unfinished decisions.

You return rested enough to continue, not clear enough to change.

You feel disconnected.

You keep meeting expectations, but feel increasingly absent from your own life.

Long working days leave little room to ask whether your choices still reflect what matters to you.

It is not motivation.

You may already know what needs attention. The problem is creating enough distance from obligation and habit to see it honestly.

An Retreat creates those conditions through fasting, reflection and protected time away.

Why people choose An.

You are not waiting for a crisis.

You want to protect your long-term health, examine old patterns and decide what deserves your energy before another year disappears into routine.

The spiritual focus helps turn a physical reset into clearer direction.

THE SETTING

A mountain people have come to for centurieswhen they needed perspective.

Legacy Yên Tử MGallery sits within the UNESCO-recognised sacred Yên Tử landscape, shaped by pilgrimage, meditation and the cultural heritage of the Trúc Lâm Zen tradition.

The resort draws on 13th-century Trần Dynasty architecture. Stone, timber, courtyards and mountain mist slow the visual rhythm before the programme even begins.

Wellness spacesThe resort includes the Am Tue Tinh Wellness Centre and an outdoor Zen Pool for quiet restoration.
Sacred mountainPagodas, historic ruins and contemplative paths place the retreat within a centuries-old pilgrimage landscape.

This is not simply a beautiful hotel. The location supports the spiritual dimension of fasting: fewer distractions, deeper attention and an environment that has held contemplative practice for generations.

The hotel also has its own restaurant, lounge and standard guest services. During An Retreat, however, your daily nourishment and use of wellness spaces follow the published fasting programme. Hotel meals, spa treatments and separate MGallery offers are included only when they are explicitly listed in your retreat package.

WHY AN EXISTS

You cannot hear what matters whileeverything around you stays loud.

Your body may need a reset. Your mind may need rest. But when you spend every day responding to other people, the deeper need is often to hear your own direction again.

The problem is not motivation. It is finding enough time, space and distance from obligation to notice what is underneath the noise.

Fasting simplifies the physical rhythm. The mountain reduces distraction. Meditation and values work give form to what begins to surface.

That is what An is designed to provide.

Not another programme to fit into your schedule, but five protected days outside it. A place to support the body, steady the mind and reconnect your actions with what you value most.

Benefits many guests begin to notice

What it can feel like when your body finally slows down again.

You may first come to lose weight, improve your energy or feel better in your own body. As the pace slows, you may also notice how much accumulated stress, unhealthy routine and mental clutter you have been carrying. At An, the physical reset creates space for a direct question: what deserves my energy now?

Steadier Energy

Many guests arrive feeling exhausted even after sleeping.

Afternoon crashes, constant tiredness and the feeling of running on empty often begin to soften once the body settles into a calmer rhythm.

Calmer relationship with food illustration

Calmer Relationship With Food

Some guests arrive with constant cravings, emotional eating or too many thoughts around food.

As the body slows down and eating becomes simpler, many guests begin to feel more calm and in control around hunger again.

Physical lightness illustration

Physical Lightness Again

Many guests arrive feeling heavy, bloated or physically overloaded.

After several days of digestive rest, the body often begins to feel lighter, calmer and less weighed down.

Clearer thinking illustration

Clearer Thinking

Mental overload often feels like constant thinking, inner noise and difficulty focusing.

When the pace slows down, many guests notice clearer thoughts, calmer focus and more space in their mind again.

Feeling more like yourself illustration

Feeling More Like Yourself Again

Some guests arrive disconnected from themselves, emotionally tired or stuck in stress mode.

As the retreat rhythm settles in, many begin to feel calmer, more grounded and more present again.

You do not need to wait until something is seriously wrong. An is for the point when your energy, habits or daily rhythm no longer feel sustainable and you are ready to respond. The physical reset creates space to decide what matters and how you want to live.

Individual experiences vary. An Retreat is a preventive wellness programme and not medical treatment.

HOW YOUR BODY IS NOURISHED

Fasting is not going without. It is being supported differently.

Fresh vegetable juices, warm fasting broth, mineral water and selected fasting teas provide a clear daily rhythm while digestion rests.

This is a guided modified fast inspired by the Buchinger approach, not a zero-intake water fast. Dieter explains what is happening and the programme balances nourishment, movement and rest.

The welcome dinner prepares you to begin. Refeeding guidance helps you return to solid food carefully after the retreat.

THE PROGRAMME

Five parts hold the retreat together. Each one helps you return to An.

The programme supports your body while giving your mind room to step out of work, family roles and constant decision-making. Community and careful refeeding help turn those five days into something useful when you return home.

Open each part below to see how fasting support, understanding, spiritual practice, shared experience and the return home work together.

Fasting and body support.

A carefully guided rhythm of nourishment, movement, check-ins and rest.

  • Personal refeeding guidance
  • Return-home practices
  • A written intention to carry forward
IMAGINE

You become quiet enough to ask a better question.

What do I want my life to be organised around, beyond the next deadline or responsibility? At An Retreat, the spiritual dimension is approached through accessible practices, not belief or performance.

Contemplative mountain walk near a stupa in Yên Tử

Meditation, breathing and reflective exercises are introduced in short, accessible forms. You do not need a spiritual practice or prior meditation experience.

Values clarification helps you identify what matters beneath obligation and habit. Intention-setting turns that awareness into something you can carry home.

Contemplative walks connect this inner work with a landscape shaped by centuries of pilgrimage. Nothing is imposed. The mountain offers context; you decide what the experience means.

This is not about withdrawing from life. It is about returning to it with direction.
YOUR FIVE DAYS

You are not receiving another schedule. You are entering a journey.

Each day takes you further from constant responsibility and closer to a calmer body, a clearer mind and a direction you can take home.

DAY 1

Arrive and become still

Meet the group, complete your first wellness check-in and understand the shape of the retreat. A light welcome dinner and orientation prepare you for the fast.

You do not need to arrive calm. You only need to arrive.

An Retreat arrival briefing at Legacy Yên Tử
DAY 2

The body begins to simplify

The fasting rhythm begins. Movement, juice, broth, rest and explanation help you understand the transition rather than fight it.

When the physical rhythm becomes simpler, attention has somewhere else to go.

DAY 3

Listen beneath the noise

Meditation, breathing and values work create distance from work problems, family roles and the thoughts that normally occupy your day.

Clarity often begins as quiet, not as an answer.

Meditation during the An Retreat journey
DAY 4

Set an intention

Reflective practice and sharing help translate what you have noticed into a direction that feels honest and useful.

The question changes: what do I want to live by?

DAY 5

Return with direction

Your final check-in, refeeding guidance and closing reflection prepare you to leave the mountain without leaving the experience behind.

You carry home a clearer sense of what deserves your energy.

Your journey does not end on Day 5.

You leave with preparation for refeeding, practical habits and an intention you can return to when life becomes noisy again.

During this detox retreat, I was deeply impressed by how well the programme at Legacy was organised and how naturally it suited this sacred place.

New experiences, including offering incense to King-Monk Trần Nhân Tông and taking part during Vesak, brought a great deal of energy.

FAQ

What first-time fasting guests usually want to know.

Do I need previous fasting or meditation experience?

No. The fasting process and short meditation practices are explained step by step. Many guests are new to one or both.

What do I consume during An Retreat?

The guided modified fast includes fresh vegetable juices, warm fasting broth, selected fasting teas and mineral water. A light plant-based welcome dinner prepares you to begin, and refeeding guidance supports your return to solid food.

How is An different from other Vietnam Detox retreats?

All Vietnam Detox retreats combine physical, mental and social support. An places particular emphasis on the spiritual dimension through meditation, values clarification, intention setting and contemplative walks in the Yên Tử mountain setting.

How do I travel to Legacy Yên Tử?

Legacy Yên Tử is in Thuong Yen Cong Commune, Uông Bí, Quảng Ninh. Hanoi Noi Bai International Airport is approximately three hours away by private transport. Cat Bi Airport and Ha Long Bay are each approximately one hour away, while Uông Bí railway station is about thirty minutes from the resort. Transfer options can be selected or requested during registration. Private indoor parking is also available at the hotel.

Do I need a visa for Vietnam?

Visa requirements depend on your nationality and can change. Some travellers qualify for visa-free entry, while others need an e-visa. Check the current requirements through Vietnam’s official e-visa portal before travelling, and ask our team if you need help planning your arrival.

Why is An Retreat held at Legacy Yên Tử?

Yên Tử has been a place of pilgrimage, meditation and reflection for more than seven centuries. Its sacred mountain landscape and Trúc Lâm Zen heritage give the fasting process a distinctive spiritual context that supports values work, intention setting and inner clarity.

Which hotel facilities are part of the An Retreat experience?

Legacy Yên Tử includes the Am Tue Tinh Wellness Centre, an outdoor Zen Pool, meditation spaces, a fitness centre and landscaped mountain grounds. The An Retreat programme uses selected spaces according to the published daily schedule. Standard hotel meals, additional spa treatments and separate MGallery offers are not automatically included unless they appear in your confirmed package.

Can I choose my room view and bed configuration?

Superior and Deluxe rooms are available in several view and bed variants. Tell the team whether you prefer a king or twin room and whether accessibility support is needed. Vietnam Detox will confirm the exact room, view and bed configuration according to the retreat allocation and hotel availability before booking.

What happens when I register?

First, choose your retreat date, room and any transfer requirements. You then complete a short health and goals questionnaire, speak with the team during a preparation call and confirm your place with the required deposit. Your room, arrival details and preparation steps are confirmed before the retreat.

What are the next retreat dates?

The currently supplied dates are 23–27 September 2026 and 25–29 November 2026. Availability should be confirmed before booking.

What should I bring?

Bring layered clothing for changing mountain weather, a warm layer for mornings and evenings, comfortable walking shoes and any personal meditation items you use.

Is An Retreat a medical programme?

No. It is a preventive wellness retreat for generally healthy adults. Relevant health conditions and regular medication must be discussed before booking.

Can I come alone?

Yes. Many guests attend alone. The small group and shared daily rhythm create natural connection without requiring you to arrive with someone.
