VIETNAM DETOX · PRIVATE BUCHINGER FASTING RETREAT
Private Retreat
A private fasting retreat in Vietnam, designed for you and the people you choose.
Your dates. Your focus. Your pace. Your privacy.
A retreat designed around the life you actually have. Private and Buchinger-guided, in Huế or a location chosen with you, for five to fourteen days.
A private Vietnam Detox retreat
The proven retreat, built entirely around you.
Guided Buchinger fasting for one person, a couple, family, or closed circle.
The method stays structured. Your dates, setting, pace and personal focus become yours to choose.
This format is for guests who want the depth of a guided retreat without adapting to a public group’s calendar or priorities.
What many guests begin to notice
What it can feel like when your body finally slows down again.
Many guests arrive because they no longer feel fully at ease in their own energy or daily rhythm.

Steadier Energy
Many guests arrive feeling exhausted even after sleeping.
Afternoon crashes, constant tiredness and the feeling of running on empty often begin to soften once the body settles into a calmer rhythm.

Calmer Relationship With Food
Some guests arrive with constant cravings, emotional eating or too many thoughts around food.
As the body slows down and eating becomes simpler, many guests begin to feel more calm and in control around hunger again.

Physical Lightness Again
Many guests arrive feeling heavy, bloated or physically overloaded.
After several days of digestive rest, the body often begins to feel lighter, calmer and less weighed down.

Clearer Thinking
Mental overload often feels like constant thinking, inner noise and difficulty focusing.
When the pace slows down, many guests notice clearer thoughts, calmer focus and more space in their mind again.

Feeling More Like Yourself Again
Some guests arrive disconnected from themselves, emotionally tired or stuck in stress mode.
As the retreat rhythm settles in, many begin to feel calmer, more grounded and more present again.
Many guests do not arrive because something is terribly wrong. They arrive because they no longer feel good in their own body, energy or daily rhythm.
Why choose a private retreat
Five reasons private becomes the right way to begin.
A private retreat is not simply a group retreat with fewer people. It answers situations that a fixed date, length or shared setting cannot.
“The dates have never once worked.”
Scheduled retreats are set months ahead. A private retreat begins with a window you can genuinely protect, and we plan backwards from it.
“A fixed length does not fit what I need.”
Your retreat can run from five to fourteen days. Without a group timetable, its length and rhythm can be shaped around your experience, your goal and how your body responds.
Paul booked seven days in Dalat, in 2018. Halfway through, he extended to a second week: nine fasting days, three building-up days in the end. A scheduled retreat could not have made that change.
“I do not want to do this among strangers.”
Nobody shares the experience unless you choose them. Come alone, with your partner, with family, or with a small circle of people you trust.
“I am coming back from something.”
An illness, an operation, a health scare or a long period of stress may leave you needing more individual attention. Screening is personal, the programme begins where you actually are and, when appropriate, we can coordinate with your own doctor before you come.
Paul came on prescribed medication after a screening call and direct correspondence with his treating doctor. His story shows the suitability process being followed, not bypassed.
“I cannot have this become public.”
If your name carries weight, privacy around your health matters. There is no public guest list, no photography and nothing published. Your assistant or company may manage the arrangements on your behalf.
If none of these describes you, book Yên or An instead. Same guided method, a small group, considerably less per person, and we will tell you so.
Discretion
Your retreat stays yours.
Privacy is built into every stage, from the first enquiry to the final day.
Nothing is shared.
- No public guest list, photographs, testimonial request, newsletter mention or social post.
- If you ask for a confidentiality agreement, we send it the same day.
Only the necessary people are involved.
- Before you arrive, we tell you exactly how many people will know about your retreat.
- Partner-property staff are briefed in Vietnamese and in person, with as much care given to what must not be said as to what must be done.
Arrangements can stay in the background.
- Your assistant or company may handle the enquiry, booking and invoice on your behalf.
- The partner property does not need to hold your name.
This has been true since 2016. It is not a service level. It is how we work.
If you want to talk about your retreat afterwards, that decision is yours, not ours. Anything you see here from a former guest is included because they offered it after returning home. We never ask during a retreat, and sharing an experience is never a condition of anything.

What is not negotiable
Everything is tailored. Nothing is diluted.
Private changes the setting, timing and focus. It does not dilute the structured Buchinger method we have practised in Vietnam since 2016.
Guided Buchinger fasting
Water, herbal teas, vegetable juices and broths, supported through screening, daily observation and personal guidance.
Nourishment and refeeding
A careful return to whole food, with practical guidance for home.
Mindful movement
Walking, stretching, mobility and optional yoga, adapted to a fasting body.
Deep rest and personal support
Massage, breathwork, journaling, reduced stimulation and direct contact with the people guiding you.

Vietnam Detox offers preventive fasting retreats for generally healthy adults.
Every private retreat begins with a health-screening call. If fasting is not appropriate for you, we will tell you before anything is booked.
Your guides
Experienced guidance, held personally.
Dieter and Hoàn remain closely involved from the first conversation through preparation, daily delivery and your return home.
Your retreat is guided directly in English or German by the person leading it. We do not work through an interpreter in private coaching conversations because the relationship between you and your coach is part of the method. Hoàn continues to coordinate the property and operational team in Vietnamese.

Dieter Buchner
Co-Founder & Retreat Leader · Certified Buchinger Fasting Coach
Dieter has guided preventive fasting in Vietnam since 2016. He conducts your screening, designs the programme, leads the check-ups and education, and supports your refeeding.

Trương Tấn Hoàn
Co-Founder & Retreat Manager
Hoàn coordinates the property, therapists, kitchen, nourishment, timing and transport, keeping operational decisions away from you.
Your retreat remains closely guided from the first conversation to the final day.
What is yours to decide
Four choices that make the retreat truly yours.
Duration
Five to fourteen days. Most guests choose five to seven.
Personal focus
Sleep, stress, metabolic health, clarity, or a deliberate transition.
Setting
Huế, or another location in Vietnam that genuinely supports the retreat.
Daily rhythm
Quiet or conversational, fully offline or with one agreed work window.
The retreat can be designed for a couple, family, or closed group. Screening and fasting support remain individual.
If work cannot stop completely
First, the honest answer: step away completely if you can.
Around Days 2 and 3, a fasting body can feel slower and less decisive than usual, sometimes before you fully notice it yourself. This is not the state in which to negotiate, make irreversible decisions or carry a normal working day.
What we advise
Protect the retreat from work entirely. Let your assistant or team filter what reaches you and postpone important decisions until you are eating normally again.
If one window is essential
We can build one clearly limited work block into a longer retreat, scheduled at the hour when you are usually most alert. Everything outside that window remains protected.
Guests who continue working usually need a longer retreat and often describe Days 3 and 4 as thinner. A private retreat can protect one essential work window, but it cannot make work consequence-free.
Possible locations
A setting chosen around your retreat.
A private retreat can take place in Huế or at another suitable property in Vietnam. We recommend the location only after understanding the privacy, rhythm and support you need.

A private garden setting in Huế
Quiet accommodation, a protected garden and close local support make Huế especially suitable when privacy is the priority.

Alba Wellness Valley Huế
Mineral springs, nature and wellness facilities create a restorative setting for a physically focused private retreat.

Legacy Yên Tử
A quiet mountain environment with space for reflection, meditation and a more inward retreat rhythm.

Namia River Retreat Hội An
A calm riverside setting for guests who want privacy, gentle movement and a strong connection to water and nature.
These are examples, not fixed packages. We check privacy, quiet walking routes, kitchen support and operational suitability before recommending a property.
The shape of it
Not a timetable. A direction.
Activities and timing are designed with you, then adjusted according to how your body responds.
Before
Preparation
Health screening, a written preparation plan and the design of your retreat.
Days 1–2
Settling in
Digestion rests and the body begins changing its source of fuel.
Days 3–4
The clearing
Hunger often settles while energy, sleep and mental clarity begin to shift.
Day 5 onwards
Rebuilding
Structured refeeding and practical guidance prepare you for home.
After
Carrying it forward
You leave with a personal plan and continued guidance from Vietnam Detox.
A private retreat in practice
Paul’s retreat changed shape because he needed it to.
Paul joined a private fasting and hiking retreat in Dalat in 2018. His experience illustrates two reasons private matters: careful individual screening, and the freedom to change the length once the retreat is underway.
“For the doctors to allow me to come, they had to know that you were responsible enough to take care of me.”
Paul arrived on prescribed medication after an individual screening call and direct correspondence with his treating doctor. The retreat did not replace medical care. It proceeded because the relevant boundaries and responsibilities had been addressed beforehand.
We work preventively with generally healthy adults, and we do not treat illness. If fasting is not appropriate, we say so before anything is booked. Paul’s story shows that process working as intended, not being bypassed.
The investment
One personal retreat. One transparent quote.
Duration, group size, property and location change the cost. That is why every proposal includes one complete, itemised quote.
Your stay
Property, room category and number of nights, shown clearly in your itemised quote.
Your retreat programme
Nourishment, bodywork, facilities and follow-up included in the programme.
Professional guidance
Our daily fee does not reduce because there are fewer guests. It is the same work, with more of it directed personally at you instead of a group of eight.
Location costs
No team travel cost in Huế. Elsewhere, travel and accommodation are shown separately at cost.
A private retreat costs more per person than a scheduled group retreat because the programme, planning and guidance are dedicated to you.
You normally receive one complete, itemised quote within three working days. The first conversation is free and carries no obligation.
Self-selection
Is a private retreat right for you?
This is probably right if…
- You need privacy and personal attention.
- Scheduled retreat dates do not fit your calendar.
- You want to come alone or with people you trust.
- You want the programme shaped around a clear personal goal.
- Your situation needs individual attention and, where appropriate, coordination with your own doctor.
- You are recognisable, and anything visible about your health could become other people’s material.
This is probably not right if…
- Lowest cost per day is your main priority.
- You are looking only for a conventional spa holiday.
- You need medical treatment or continuous medical supervision.
- You expect a guaranteed weight outcome.
- You would need an interpreter for the coaching conversations.
If that doesn't sound like you, book Yên or An instead: same guided method, a small group, considerably less per person.

Questions people ask
Direct answers before you write.
Really, roughly what does it cost?
The cost depends on the property, duration, number of guests and location. Share those details in your first message and you will normally receive a complete, itemised quote within three working days. Per person, a private retreat costs more than joining a scheduled retreat.
How far ahead do I need to book?
Six to eight weeks is comfortable and allows time for proper preparation. Shorter notice may be possible when dates and a suitable property are available.
What is the shortest useful retreat?
Five days is the minimum for a meaningful private retreat, especially for a first fast. Seven days is the most common private booking, while a longer stay allows more time for fasting, rest and a careful return to food.
Can my partner join without fasting?
Yes. We can design a parallel programme with lighter food and the same movement, rest and education. It is included in the quote.
I take regular medication. Is that a problem?
Not automatically. Dieter reviews your health and medication during the screening call. The same screening, check-ups and suitability boundaries apply whether the retreat is private or group-based.
Can we hold it at a place of our own choosing?
Often, yes. The property must offer quiet nights, shaded walking routes and a kitchen and team able to support the programme. We assess the location with you before recommending it.

Your retreat begins with one private conversation.
